2011 CAREGIVER EDUCATIONAL SERIES
Caring Every Day. For the one in five adults in America who serve as family caregivers, family caregiving is an important and time-consuming part of daily life. Unfortunately the burdens and stress that are a part of family caregiving can take their toll. For instance family caregivers are known to have much higher rates of depression than the rest of the population. Among the six in ten family caregivers who are employed many alter their work life and consequently their financial well being by cutting their hours or taking unpaid leave.

Caregiver Support Program of the Area Office on Aging Northwestern Ohio, Inc. strives to increase awareness about family caregiving and to provide more education and support for those who are or who may find themselves in the role of the unpaid caregiver. The Mott Branch Library and Swanton Library will continue to host our monthly 2011 Caregiver Educational Series. These meetings offer three steps that family caregivers can take every day to make their lives easier, improve the care they provide their loved one, and raise overall awareness. In 2011, the sessions will cover new and improved topics with more practical information and resources.

In Lucas County, sessions will be held on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 6:30-8:00 p.m., at the Mott Branch Library, 1085 Dorr Street, Toledo, Ohio.   Respite may be available provided a 72 hour notice is given. To register, please call Ms. Tanesha Hunter, Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio at 419-382-0624 ext. 1119 or 1-800-472-7277.
